Founded in 2012 in Ayrshire, the Clan are Scotland’s only unified rugby team. Unified rugby gives players with and without Learning disabilities an opportunity to play full contact rugby.
The clan work together both on and off the field to develop not just there rugby skills, but also taking their social skills to a new level. The team played their first competitive match in 2013 at the first Tri Unions Cup held in the Ayrshire town of Kilmarnock. It was an opportunity for everyone involved with The Clan to mix with with the more established teams from England and Wales.
In the past year since the tournament, the Clan has played against many non unified teams and even notched up victories against the Kilmarnock Polar Bears and their welsh counterparts the Clanethy Warriors.
Now the stage is set for an exciting Tournament which will bring the three teams together again and we met up with the clan to see how far they’ve come in just one year and to see what there expectations were on their way towards the Tri Unions Cup 2014.
